Here in Canada, we have a dish called Poutine - it’s basically french fries with gravy and cheese curds. It looks something like this:

Mrs. BaconSandwich and I were just having lunch (a burger and fries) and noticed we had an avocado that also needed to be used up. Tasting the fries and avocado together made me think that someone needs to try making a Mexican Poutine. So I mentally made a recipe for it:
Mexican Poutine
Ingredients:
- Hot fries
- Avocado (or guacamole)
- Sour cream
- Dash of lime juice
- Cilantro (optional)
Instructions:
1. Make sure fries are nice and hot. Place on plate or in a bowl.
2. Cover with chopped up avocado (or dollops of guacamole). Spread sour cream around on it as well, then dribble a little lime juice over the whole thing.
3. Eat immediately.
I think it’d be pretty good. Any Opponauts want to give this a shot?

Adding avocado and cilantro to a dish doesn't make it Mexican. It makes it a dish with avocado and cilantro.

Yeah, it needs more go make it Mexican. Cheese, for sure, and some kind of meat to keep in the proper poutine family.

Short cut
Avocado fries
Just baked breaded avocado and herb sour cream dip. They’re quite good. But a wholly different beast than poutine.

Up here, Old El Paso is considered Mexican. How about adding some queso fresco - would that help?

Poutine. Also what my uncle calls the “Garbage Food of Quebec”.

No. Just, no. Stop.
Very few Mexican dishes actually make use of cheese. And most of the ones that do are Americanized.

OK, so how would you do it?

I do want to try it. Only have been to Quebec once (2013).

I would start by not appropriating other cultures simply by adding a single ingredient that's not exclusive to that culture to begin with.

You have no clue how diverse Mexican cuisine is, do you?

Try Maple Bacon Poutine. It’s exactly what it sounds like, ordinary poutine plus bacon and maple syrup. A delicious heart attack in a bowl.

I think Taco Bell (or Taco Time) does mexi-fries. Similar, but no avocado and no lime (or cilantro).
